Renowned manga artist Gō Ikeyamada is set to debut a new series titled Makeheroine desu ga Kekkonshimasu ~Kono Naka ni Watashi no Otto ga Iru!?~ (I’m a Losing Heroine, but I’ll Get Married Anyway: Is My Husband Among You!?) in the upcoming issue of Shogakukan’s Sho-Comi magazine on August 20.
A New Romantic Comedy Takes Center Stage
The announcement came in this year’s 17th issue of Sho-Comi magazine, revealing details about Ikeyamada’s latest work. The series promises a compelling romantic comedy centered around the recently heartbroken protagonist, Reo.
The Premise: Heartbreak, Dating Apps, and a Love Triangle
Reo’s journey begins after her boyfriend is stolen by a friend, leaving her heartbroken. In an attempt to move on, she turns to a marriage dating app, where she surprisingly discovers three potential suitors with a “100% compatibility” rating. This intriguing setup quickly leads Reo into a complex love triangle, which may even involve her former boyfriend.
Gō Ikeyamada’s Prolific Career
Gō Ikeyamada has a long and established career in the manga industry, having made her debut in 2002 with Get Love!!, serialized in Shōjo Comic. She is known for her contributions to shōjo manga, often featuring themes of romance and school life.
Recent Works and Notable Series
Prior to this new launch, Ikeyamada concluded her Takanashi-ke no Imōto wa Hanayome ni Naritaii!! (I Want the Takanashi Family’s Younger Sister to Be My Bride!!) manga in June 2025, which she had launched in August 2023. Other notable works include Isekai Maō wa Fujoshi o Zettai Nigasanai (The Demon King From Another World Will Not Allow the Fujoshi to Get Away), which ran from July 2020 to February 2022, and the widely recognized So Cute It Hurts!! (Kobayashi ga Kawai Sugite Tsurai!!), which concluded in November 2015 and saw a North American release by Viz Media. So Cute It Hurts!! also received two original anime DVDs, and her Suki Desu Suzuki-kun!! manga inspired an original anime DVD in 2010.
