Hanai Warugi’s manga, Uchi no Ko wa Mahō Shōjo ni Naranai (My Sister Will Not Become a Magical Girl.), has officially concluded with the publication of its final chapter in the September issue of Shonengahosha’s Young King Ours magazine on Wednesday. The series, which launched in August 2023, is set to release its second and third (final) compiled book volumes simultaneously on August 29.
The Story of Akuto and Shiny
The Uchi no Ko wa Mahō Shōjo ni Naranai manga centers on the protagonist, Akuto, and his older sister, Shiny. Shiny is a magical girl tasked with fighting a mysterious monster known as “Acrylamide” that poses a threat to the human world, emerging after a meteorite crash. Akuto supports his sister in her magical girl endeavors. However, a tragic turn occurs when Shiny commits suicide after defeating an Acrylamide. The narrative then takes a time-traveling twist, with Akuto journeying back to a point before his sister becomes a magical girl, aiming to prevent her suicide.
Publication History and Volume Releases
The manga began its serialization in Young King Ours magazine in August 2023. Shonengahosha released the first compiled book volume in July 2024. The upcoming release of both the second and third volumes on August 29 will bring the series to a complete close.

This manga, which started on Kadokawa’s KadoComi manga service, concluded its run on June 19. Kadokawa plans to publish the third volume of this series on September 5.
