New Voices Join the Hunt for Immortality
Excitement for Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Season 2 is building with the announcement of key new voice actors who will bring fresh characters to life. These additions are expected to deepen the narrative and introduce significant challenges for the existing cast.
Unveiling the New Yamada Asaemon
Among the most notable new additions are several Yamada Asaemon, the elite executioners tasked with overseeing the death-row convicts on Shinsenkyo. The newly announced cast members include:
- Kōji Yusa as Yamada Asaemon Jikka
- Maaya Uchida as Yamada Asaemon Kiyomaru
- Sayaka Ōhara as Yamada Asaemon Isuzu
Ryota Suzuki was previously announced to join the cast as Yamada Asaemon Shugen, a character who briefly appeared in the first season. Shugen is known to lead another team to the island, promising significant clashes and developments.
Returning Cast and Creative Team
The core cast members from the first season will reprise their roles, ensuring continuity for beloved characters. Chiaki Kobayashi returns as Gabimaru the Hollow, and Yumiri Hanamori as Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. Other returning voice actors include Ryohei Kimura as Chobei Aza and Kensho Ono as Toma Asaemon Yamada.
The creative team behind the successful first season is also largely returning, with Kaori Makita as director, Akira Kindaichi handling series composition, Koji Hisaki as character designer, and Yoshiaki Dewa composing the music. Studio MAPPA, lauded for its stunning animation in Season 1, will continue to produce the series.
Diving Deeper into the Island’s Mysteries: What Season 2 Will Cover
Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Season 1 concluded around chapter 45 of Yuji Kaku’s manga, covering the initial “Island Arc” and part of the “Lord Tensen Arc.” Season 2 is set to delve into the remaining portion of the “Lord Tensen Arc” (chapters 46-59) and then tackle the extensive and brutal “Hōrai Arc” (chapters 60-110).
Fans can anticipate Gabimaru, Sagiri, and the surviving convicts and executioners to venture further into the enigmatic Shinsenkyo. The narrative will explore deeper into the island’s mysteries, featuring intense battles against the Tensen, and revealing profound truths about Gabimaru’s past and his connection to his wife. The focus will be on how the characters evolve through their struggles, blending action with emotional depth. Given the length of the Hōrai Arc, the season might be multi-cour.
