Muchimaro’s four-panel manga series, “Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru!” (There is Also a Hole in the Student Organization!), is officially receiving a TV anime adaptation. The announcement was made on April 27, 2025, accompanied by a teaser promotional video, a teaser visual, and information regarding the main staff.

Anime Production Details

The anime adaptation is being produced by Passione, with Naoyuki Tatsuwa (known for his work on Nisekoi – False Love) directing. Ryo Imamura (ONIMAI: I’m Now Your Sister!) is in charge of character designs, and Masahiro Yokotani (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) is overseeing the series scripts.

Staff Comments

Muchimaro, the original author, expressed excitement, stating, “It’s getting an anime adaptation! What… is it really happening!? An anime adaptation!? Yay!!!! Thanks to everyone who has continued to support the series, one big dream has come true. Thank you so much. Now then, please enjoy seeing the characters moving and speaking…!!! Yay!!!”

Director Naoyuki Tatsuwa commented, “Congratulations on the anime announcement! The daily chaotic antics of the Fujinari Academy Student Council will now come alive through animation. We are currently working hard and having a lot of fun in production, so please look forward to seeing your favorite scenes, situations, and dialogues from the original animated!”

Ryo Imamura (Character Designer) Commented “I’m Imamura, the character designer. Capturing Muchimaro-sensei’s detailed human anatomy and uniquely charming character drawings in animation is my mission this time.

About the Manga

“Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru!” is a four-panel comedy manga series written and illustrated by Muchimaro. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since April 2022. The manga won in the print category of the ninth Next Manga Awards (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō) in 2023. As of March 2025, nine tankōbon volumes have been released, with over 1.5 million copies in circulation.

Premise

The story is set at the prestigious Fujinasu Academy, a private high school located on the outskirts of town. The story follows Ume Mizunoe, a first-year student with a love for literature. Ume excels in humanities but struggles with math and science. To avoid repeating a year, Ume joins the student council where he finds himself surrounded by a strange group of individuals.

Characters

The student council members include:

  • Ume Mizunoe: A first-year student who excels in humanities but struggles in math and science. He joins the student council to avoid repeating a year.
  • Other Eccentric Student Council Members: The student council consists of a very strange group of individuals, including a charismatic but secretive president, a stern yet kind and graceful treasurer, a cheeky and cute boy, and a tiny “stray cat” general affairs officer.

Story

Ume’s time in the student council involves chaotic daily events with the unique student council members.

Additional Information

A promotional video for the seventh volume, animated by Passione, was uploaded to the series’ official X account on July 10, 2024. The manga’s animated trailer, released in July 2024, is currently the Shonen Magazine YouTube channel’s most popular video, boasting over 3.6 million views.
