Hulu is set to release a new anime adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s classic manga series “Cat’s Eye,” with the 12-episode series premiering on September 26. The highly anticipated reboot will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Hulu on Disney+ internationally, offering a fresh take on the beloved art-thieving Kisugi sisters.
Return of the Iconic Kisugi Sisters
The new “Cat’s Eye” anime reimagines the adventures of Hitomi, Rui, and Ai Kisugi, who by day operate a quaint café, and by night transform into notorious art thieves. Their primary goal is to recover their father’s stolen art collection, often leading to thrilling heists and a complex cat-and-mouse game with Detective Toshio, Hitomi’s unsuspecting boyfriend. This adaptation aims to honor the original 1980s anime and the manga, which debuted in 1981 and has cultivated a global fanbase.

The original “Cat’s Eye” manga by Tsukasa Hojo was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1981 to 1985 and led to two television anime seasons from 1983 to 1985. Abrams ComicArts’ Kana imprint has also licensed the manga for an omnibus print edition with new English translations, launching on September 9. This new anime adds to recent adaptations, including a 2023 crossover film with “Lupin the 3rd” and a French live-action series that premiered its first season at the end of 2024.
