During the week of June 16-22, 2025, traditional mainstays continued to dominate Japanese television viewership for animated programs, with family-friendly classics leading the ratings in the Kanto region. The rankings, based on average household ratings provided by Video Research, offer a snapshot of broadcast popularity, though they do not account for later viewings via recording.
Top-Ranked Anime Broadcasts
Long-running animated series consistently drew the largest audiences. Sazae-san on Fuji TV secured the top spot with a 6.4% rating for its June 22 broadcast. Following closely were Detective Conan from NTV, which aired on June 21 and garnered a 4.8% rating, and Chibi Maruko-chan on Fuji TV with 4.4% for its June 22 episode.
Notable Performances Across Networks
While the top three remained largely consistent in their high viewership, other animated shows also made their mark. The combined programming block of Ueda to Onna ga DEEP ni Hoeru Yoru (a variety show) and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX on NTV achieved a 3.2% rating for their June 17 broadcast. Yaiba: Samurai Legend on NTV, airing on June 21, saw a 2.9% rating.
Other animated titles in the top rankings included You and Idol Precure♪ (TV Asahi, June 22) and the finale of The Dinner Table Detective (Fuji TV, June 20), both earning a 2.7% rating. Doraemon (TV Asahi, June 21) and Crayon Shin-chan (TV Asahi, June 21) each secured a 2.5% rating. Your Forma (TV Asahi, June 18) and One Piece (Fuji TV, June 22) both received 2.4%. Rounding out the list was Oshiri Tantei on NHK-E, which aired on June 19 and registered a 1.5% rating.
It is important to note that a significant rating was also achieved by Anpan, a new live-action weekday morning series from NHK’s “Asadora” franchise, inspired by the life of Anpanman manga creator Takashi Yanase. An episode on June 20 at 8:00 a.m. earned a substantial 16.8% rating, while another episode on June 17 at 12:45 p.m. received 11.9%. These figures highlight the broad appeal of well-established franchises and new entries within Japanese television, beyond purely animated content.
