The upcoming anime film, titled Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! “Baka to SmaPho to Romance to” (Toi-san Wants to Enjoy Her Youth! “Fools, Smartphones and Romance”), based on Strawberry Prince member Jel’s popular “Toi-san” short comedy video series, recently unveiled a new teaser trailer that prominently features its eclectic cast of characters. Set to premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025, the film promises a comedic high school experience filled with eccentric personalities.
Jel himself is deeply involved in the project, taking on roles in planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and character designing, in addition to voicing two central characters: himself and Akane Toi. The narrative centers on Akane Toi, a high school student who anticipates an ordinary school life until she encounters the unpredictable Jel. Their meeting soon draws her into the “Youth Romance Club,” a peculiar school organization dedicated to pursuing anything deemed “youthful” or “romantic.”
The trailer offers glimpses of the various individuals who populate this quirky club and Akane’s new, anything-but-ordinary school life. Alongside Jel and Akane Toi, voiced by Jel, the confirmed voice cast members and the characters they portray suggest a vibrant and humorous ensemble:
- Momo Mochizuki, voiced by Aki Toyosaki.
- Satan Yamada, voiced by Yuma Uchida.
- Yuri Himeno, voiced by Ayane Sakura.
- Hideki Otaku, voiced by Junta Terashima.
- Haruka Shirakawa, voiced by Manaka Iwami.
- Kenichi Minamoto, voiced by Takehito Koyasu.
- Kiriya Numaoka, voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto.
These characters, brought to life by a talented cast, are poised to deliver the comedic antics and unexpected twists that fans of the original “Toi-san” video series have come to expect. The film’s emphasis on its diverse and wacky character roster in the latest trailer hints at the central role their interactions will play in the comedic narrative.
