GKIDS has acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie. The film is a compilation of the “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc from the second season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series. It will be released in theaters nationwide on July 16, 2025, in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions.
Gojo and Geto’s Origins on the Big Screen
The Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc delves into the backstory of fan-favorite characters Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto during their high school days. Before they were enemies, Gojo and Geto were classmates and friends. The two powerful young sorcerers are tasked with protecting Riko Amanai, a student chosen to become the Star Plasma Vessel. They must protect her until she fulfills her duty. Pursued by a religious cult and other curse users, Gojo and Geto are the only sorcerers capable of carrying out such a difficult task. This mission will test their bond and challenge them in unimaginable ways.
A Theatrical Experience
The film promises to elevate the viewing experience of the already captivating arc. It will feature newly remixed sound for an immersive theatrical presentation. Fans and newcomers alike can experience the emotional story on the big screen.
The film is slated to premiere in Japan on May 30, 2025. The Japanese release will feature an all-new acoustic version of Tatsuya Kitani’s “Where Our Blue Is,” which was the original opening theme song for the “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc. The song has garnered over 100 million views on YouTube and over 200 million streams on Spotify.
GKIDS Takes the Helm
This marks the first time GKIDS will distribute a Jujutsu Kaisen release. Crunchyroll and Funimation previously distributed Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in the U.S. in 2022.
