Crunchyroll is bringing Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death, a compilation film recapping the “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc from the anime’s second season, to select theaters internationally this summer. Here’s everything fans need to know about this exciting release.
Global Rollout Details
Sony and Crunchyroll have secured the international distribution rights for the film and plan a limited theatrical release starting July 16, 2025, in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Australia. This strategy aims to reach regions with strong anime followings, allowing fans worldwide to experience the cinematic recap of a pivotal storyline.
What to Expect from the Film
Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death focuses on the backstory of two central characters: Gojo and Geto during their high school years. This arc is crucial as it explains many events in the present storyline, offering viewers a deeper understanding of their motivations and the complex relationship between them.
While the film doesn’t feature entirely new content, it compiles key moments from the second season, allowing fans to revisit significant scenes and better appreciate the characters’ development.
Storyline Overview
The film revisits the spring of 2006, when Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were high school students and active jujutsu sorcerers. They receive a mission from Tengen, a cornerstone of jujutsu society, to escort and erase the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai, a young girl compatible with Tengen. As they set out to protect her, they encounter the Sorcerer Killer, Fushiguro, who seeks to assassinate the Star Plasma Vessel. This arc reveals the past that drove Gojo and Geto apart, shaping them into who they become in the main story.
Where to Watch
Crunchyroll will screen the film in both Japanese with subtitles and dubbed formats. Specific release dates and theater listings will be announced soon.
