Akita Publishing’s Monthly Princess magazine has announced that Junko’s manga series, “Shirayuki Yume to n-Nin no Yume Kareshi” (Yume Shirayuki and the ## Dream Boyfriends), will conclude its serialization in the magazine’s upcoming issue on January 6, 2026. The series, which began in October 2024, is drawing to a close after a run of just over a year.
The Story of Yume Shirayuki and Her Imaginary Romances
“Shirayuki Yume to n-Nin no Yume Kareshi” centers on the titular character, Yume Shirayuki, who as a junior high school student was deeply engrossed in imaginary romances with “dream boyfriends” she meticulously chronicled in her notebook. Having grown into an ordinary office worker in her thirties, Yume believed she had moved past these youthful fantasies. However, her long-forgotten imaginary ex-boyfriends suddenly reappear before her, thrusting her into an unbelievable new reality.
The manga has explored the humorous and unexpected complications that arise when the boundaries between fantasy and reality blur for Yume. Akita Publishing released the manga’s second compiled book volume on August 18, 2025.
Junko’s Prolific Career in Manga
Junko, the acclaimed manga artist behind “Shirayuki Yume to n-Nin no Yume Kareshi,” is known for her diverse works, particularly in the shōjo and yaoi genres. She professionally debuted in 2009, with “Kimi Note” becoming her first breakthrough hit in 2010.
Award-Winning “Kiss Him, Not Me”
One of Junko’s most widely recognized works is “Kiss Him, Not Me” (Watashi ga Motete Dōsunda). This shōjo series, which ran in Bessatsu Friend from 2013 to 2018, earned the Best Shōjo Manga award at the 40th Kodansha Manga Awards. “Kiss Him, Not Me” followed Kae Serinuma, a fujoshi who, after losing weight due to shock, becomes popular with four boys from her school. The manga inspired a 12-episode television anime adaptation that premiered in October 2016. Both the manga and anime were released in English by Kodansha USA Publishing and Crunchyroll/Funimation, respectively.
Other Notable Works by Junko
Prior to “Shirayuki Yume to n-Nin no Yume Kareshi,” Junko also worked on “Star-Crossed!!” (Wota Doru: Oshi ga Watashi de Watashi ga Oshi de), which serialized in Bessatsu Friend from June 2019 to September 2020. Kodansha USA Publishing released the four-volume series digitally. Her body of work showcases a talent for creating engaging narratives with unique premises, often blending humor, romance, and unexpected twists.
Fans of Junko’s latest work can look forward to its conclusion in the upcoming issue of Monthly Princess, marking the end of Yume Shirayuki’s journey with her dream boyfriends.
