K Manga, Kodansha’s digital manga service, has officially added Nagi Ōkawa’s manga adaptation of Ichiha Hiiragi’s novel, “The Useless Saint and the Cursed Holy Knight: A Whimsical Confession Turned Proposal & Devotion,” to its growing library. The romantic fantasy series, which concluded its run in Japan in October 2023, became available on the platform on Monday.
A Saint’s Diminished Power and an Unexpected Proposal
The story centers on Annabel, a Saint initially possessing the powerful ability of “Divine Power” for healing. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, her divine abilities significantly wane, rendering her “useless.” Facing an undesirable arranged marriage, Annabel decides to create a cherished memory before her impending nuptials. She attends a flower festival, a place where social standing is set aside for heartfelt confessions, and boldly declares her love to a passing Holy Knight, Sir Lucas.
Much to her surprise, only a few days later, Sir Lucas appears to propose marriage to Annabel. His sudden proposal, however, is not simply a romantic gesture but is driven by his quest to lift a curse placed upon him. The manga explores their unconventional relationship as they navigate their engagement and the mystery surrounding Lucas’s curse.
