The highly anticipated Kaiju No. 8 anime is set to enter its “Conclusion Arc,” bringing the adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s popular manga closer to its finale. The significant announcement was made during the Jump Festa 2026 event on December 20, where a new teaser visual and trailer were unveiled. Alongside the main story’s impending conclusion, fans can also look forward to an original anime short titled “Narumi’s Ordinary Days”.
“Conclusion Arc” to Deliver the Manga’s Climactic Finale
The “Conclusion Arc” will adapt the remaining story of Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga, which officially ended its serialization in July 2025 with Chapter 129 and accumulated 16 volumes. The manga has garnered immense popularity, surpassing 19 million copies in circulation. While the exact format and release date for the anime’s final arc have not yet been confirmed, the announcement at Jump Festa 2026 featured main cast members, including Masaya Fukunishi (Kafka Hibino) and Koki Uchiyama (Gen Narumi), reassuring fans that more information will be released soon.
The new promotional video for the final arc hints at intense battles, depicting Defense Force members pushed to their limits against evolved kaiju. It also teases the uncertain fate of Isao Shinomiya, who was absorbed by Kaiju No. 9, and highlights Kafka’s unwavering resolve as he continues to fight as Kaiju No. 8. Production I.G, known for its work on series like Haikyuu!! and Attack on Titan, is once again animating the project, with Studio Khara supervising the creature designs.
Delving into “Narumi’s Ordinary Days” Original Short
In addition to the “Conclusion Arc,” an original anime short titled “Narumi’s Ordinary Days” has been announced. This spin-off will focus on the everyday life of Gen Narumi, the leader of the First Division and known as the strongest man in the Defense Force. The title and concept are reminiscent of the “Hoshina’s Day Off” spin-off, which was screened in March 2025 as part of a Season 1 compilation movie and later aired on TV. This new short was announced in celebration of Gen Narumi’s birthday, offering fans a glimpse into his life outside of intense kaiju battles.
Previous Anime Projects and Manga’s End
The Kaiju No. 8 anime first premiered in April 2024, with its second season airing from July 19 to September 27, 2025. Crunchyroll has been streaming the series, including dubbed versions. The manga’s conclusion in July 2025 saw Kafka Hibino, after a climactic battle against Kaiju No. 9, awaken in human form while retaining his hybrid powers. The finale showed him rejoining the Defense Force as a platoon leader and continuing to fight as Kaiju No. 8, leaving the door open for future adventures.
Creator Naoya Matsumoto shared his thoughts, noting that even with the manga’s serialization ending, “Kaiju No. 8 as a work is far from over,” expressing his intent to continue generating new ideas and scenes through collaboration with the anime and game production teams. This commitment suggests a continued future for the franchise beyond the manga’s immediate narrative.
