The highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Hey’s “Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” (Botan Kamiina, Her Drunken Appearance Is Like a Lily Flower) manga is officially slated to premiere in April 2026. Voice actress Sayumi Suzushiro has been confirmed to star as the titular main character, Botan Kamiina.
The announcement was made on Friday via the anime’s official X/Twitter account, which also unveiled a new character visual for Botan.
A Drunken Yuri Comedy Comes to Life
“Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” is a yuri comedy manga that began serialization on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross web service in March 2019. The series introduces Botan Kamiina, a 20-year-old university student from Chichibu, Saitama, who embarks on her first drinking experiences after an encounter with Ibuki Tonami, the leader of her dorm. While Ibuki typically struggles with drinking in public, she quickly forms a bond with Botan, leading them to become regular drinking partners. As Botan explores various alcoholic beverages, she finds herself becoming more audacious and prone to making surprising remarks when under the influence. The manga’s sixth compiled volume shipped in March.
Key Production Team and Studio Soigne
The anime project sees Takashi Sakuma (known for directing 16bit Sensation: Another Layer) at the helm as director at Studio Soigne. Shuntarō Tozawa, who has contributed to series like Undead Unluck, is serving as the assistant director. Kou Yoshinari (White Album) is responsible for character designs, while Yōko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection) is handling the series scripts. The musical score for the anime will be composed by Kana Hashiguchi. Main animators include Yūsuke Matsuo and Miyachi. The anime is produced by Aniplex.
Sayumi Suzushiro Takes on the Lead Role
Sayumi Suzushiro, a prominent voice actress affiliated with Arts Vision, will lend her voice to Botan Kamiina. Suzushiro is celebrated for her roles in various anime, including Akira Ono in Hi Score Girl, Uruka Takemoto in We Never Learn, and Nijika Ijichi in Bocchi the Rock!. She received the Best Rookie Award at the 14th Seiyu Awards in 2020 and the Best Singing Award at the 18th Seiyuu Awards in 2024 for her work with the unit Kessoku Band. Her casting in “Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” as the lead character marks another significant addition to her diverse portfolio. Fans eagerly anticipate her portrayal of the charmingly emboldened Botan in the upcoming series.
