The official “light anime” adaptation of Yoroida’s popular fantasy slice-of-life manga series, #Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf (also known as Kanagawa Elves or The Elves Living in Kanagawa), has announced four additional voice cast members ahead of its December 4, 2025 debut. The series is set to premiere within TV Kanagawa’s local midday news and variety program, Neko no Hitai Hodo Wide, at 12 noon JST.
Expanding the Elven Community: New Voice Cast Revealed
The newly announced cast members, all of whom hail from Kanagawa Prefecture, will bring more of the region’s diverse characters to life. Kōtarō Nishiyama has been cast in the dual role of Yōsei-san (Fairy) and the narrator. Yūsuke Nagano will voice the Elf from Yokosuka, while Yūki Inoue joins as the Elf from Sagamihara. Rounding out the new additions, Gō Fujii will portray the Orc from Machida.
These four join the previously revealed main cast members, Chiaki Kobayashi, who voices the protagonist Elf from Yokohama, and Yu Hayashi, who plays the Human from Kawasaki. Notably, both Kobayashi and Hayashi also have roots in Kanagawa Prefecture, with Kobayashi from Yokohama City and Hayashi from Zama City. The collaborative spirit among the Kanagawa-native cast members was highlighted by Chiaki Kobayashi, who mentioned the unique recording sessions filled with discussions about their home prefecture.
December Premiere and Production Details
The #Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf light anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting in December 2025. The anime adaptation follows a community of elves who, after a devastating forest fire two years prior, were forced to abandon their home and now live among humans in various cities across Kanagawa Prefecture. The series promises a blend of fantasy and everyday life, exploring the interactions between elves, humans, and other creatures.
The production of the light anime is handled by IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with Yuji Umoto (known for SHIBUYA♡HACHI) directing the series. Taeko Miura is serving as the sound director, and Shin Kawamoto is composing the music.
From Manga to Live-Action and Light Anime
The #Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf project originates from Yoroida’s manga series, which debuted on Micro Magazine’s Comic Elmo in August 2020. The manga is a fantasy comedy that has released five volumes as of March 2025.
In addition to the upcoming light anime, the manga also received a live-action television drama adaptation, which premiered on September 30, 2025, also airing within the Neko no Hitai Hodo Wide program. The simultaneous adaptations highlight the growing popularity and unique premise of Yoroida’s work, bringing the charm of elves living in Kanagawa to both animated and live-action audiences.
