The official website for Yoroida’s fantasy slice-of-life manga series, Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf (Elves Living in Kanagawa), announced key details today for its upcoming TV light anime adaptation, including the main cast, staff, a new key visual, and its first teaser video. The series is slated to premiere in December 2025 within TV Kanagawa’s (tvk) local midday news and variety program, Neko no Hitai Hodo Wide.
The anime adaptation follows a community of elves who were forced to leave their forest home after a devastating fire two years prior. They now lead ordinary lives among humans in various cities across Kanagawa Prefecture, exploring themes of community, resilience, and coexistence.
Exploring the “Kanagawa Elves” Cast and Characters
The newly revealed cast features prominent voice actors bringing the main characters to life. Chiaki Kobayashi will voice the protagonist Elf from Yokohama, while Yu Hayashi takes on the role of the Human from Kawasaki. Notably, both voice actors hail from Kanagawa Prefecture, with Kobayashi from Yokohama City and Hayashi from Zama City, adding a unique local connection to the production.
Chiaki Kobayashi expressed his enjoyment in recording with the cast, highlighting the interesting dynamic of acting with elves while maintaining an everyday feel. Yu Hayashi also shared his excitement for the lively conversations between the Yokohama Elf and Kawasaki Human, emphasizing the story’s blend of common Kanagawa experiences and unique charm.
The Creative Team Behind “Kanagawa Elves”
The production staff for the Kanagawa Elves light anime has also been revealed. Yūji Umoto is directing the anime at Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio. Shin Kawamoto is composing the music for the series, and Taeko Miura is serving as the sound director. Kazuya Takahashi is credited as the production supervisor, with Usagiou providing animation production assistance.
The anime is produced by AnimationID. Yoroida, the original manga author, also drew the newly released key visual for the anime adaptation.

The Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf manga, a fantasy comedy, began serialization on Pixiv Comic via Micro Magazine’s Comic Elmo label in August 2020. As of March 2025, five compiled book volumes have been published.
In addition to the upcoming light anime, a live-action television drama adaptation was announced in August 2025 and is set to premiere on September 30, 2025. The drama, directed and written by Oolongta Yoshida, will also air within tvk’s Neko no Hitai Hodo Wide program. The live-action cast includes Sion Yoshitaka as the Yokohama Elf and Ryōtarō Akazawa as the Kawasaki Human, among others. These multiple adaptations underscore the growing popularity of Yoroida’s unique story.
