Kaori Tsurutani’s manga adaptation of Mizuki Tsujimura’s novel Gōman to Zenryō (Arrogance and Virtue) is slated to conclude with its third volume. The final volume is expected to ship on December 19, according to listings on Amazon.
Tsurutani, known for her acclaimed series BL Metamorphosis, launched the manga adaptation in Asahi Shimbun Publications’ Shōsetsu TRIPPER literary magazine in June 2024.
The Story of “Arrogance and Virtue”
Arrogance and Virtue centers on the characters Kakeru Nishizawa and Mami Sakaniwa, who meet through a dating app and quickly become engaged. However, Mami suddenly disappears after their engagement. Kakeru’s search for her forces him to confront aspects of Mami’s past that he might not have wished to uncover. The manga is categorized under drama, mystery, and romance genres, with a josei demographic.
Kaori Tsurutani’s Previous Works
Kaori Tsurutani is a recognized mangaka, prominently known for her work BL Metamorphosis (Metamorufōze no Engawa). This series, which ran from November 2017 to October 2020, follows the unlikely friendship between Ichinoi, a 75-year-old woman who discovers a love for Boy’s Love (BL) manga, and Urara, a high school BL fan. BL Metamorphosis gained significant critical acclaim, appearing on lists for best manga and winning the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival Manga Division New Face Award in 2019. It was serialized digitally in the monthly manga magazine Comic Newtype and compiled into five volumes. An English version of BL Metamorphosis has been licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment.
