Manga artists Kaoru Mori and Aki Irie will continue the serialization of their acclaimed works, A Bride’s Story and Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest, respectively, under a new publishing company named Yukiwarisō. This transition follows the cessation of their serialization in Kadokawa’s Aokishi magazine last February.
The announcement was made by Kaoru Mori herself through a “Kinkyō Oshirase Iroiro Manga” update. While Yukiwarisō will not operate with a traditional magazine format, Mori confirmed that fans can expect the serialization pace and compiled book volume releases to remain consistent with previous schedules.
The Shift from Kadokawa’s Aokishi Magazine
Both A Bride’s Story and Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest had previously moved to Kadokawa’s Aokishi magazine when it launched in April 2021, having originally been serialized in Harta magazine. However, a renewal of Aokishi magazine, announced in its 24th A and B issues on February 18, saw some titles continue while others, including Mori’s and Irie’s works, would no longer be published there.
At the time of the magazine’s renewal, it was stated that Mori “plans to search for a new form of publication” for her manga, and Irie was also confirmed to continue her works in the future, though the specific publisher was not disclosed until now.
Yukiwarisō: A New Chapter for Acclaimed Manga
The establishment of Yukiwarisō marks a significant development for both creators and their readership. In addition to Mori’s and Irie’s popular series, Yukiwarisō is set to publish works by other artists, including Ichika Ootsuka’s Piccolina, Moe Yasubara’s Aubrey, Masahiko Dairaku’s Guratatō Nikki, and a work by Tomoya Sakata, alongside other new writers.
This new publishing model, foregoing a magazine format, suggests a potentially more flexible approach to manga distribution, focusing on individual title management and direct volume releases.
Kaoru Mori’s Additional Projects and English Releases
Beyond A Bride’s Story, Kaoru Mori has other projects in the pipeline. She revealed plans for her Emma manga to be republished and for her Shirley manga to receive a third volume. Furthermore, a collection of her short stories is also slated for release.
For English-speaking audiences, Yen Press has been actively releasing A Bride’s Story, with the fourteenth volume published as of January 2025. Meanwhile, Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest in English, following its initial licensing by Vertical Comics.
