Yuami’s delightful manga, Koala E Nikki (コアラ絵日記), also known as Koala’s Diary or Koala Picture Diary, is set to charm audiences in a brand-new web anime adaptation by Studio Mother. Kadokawa made the announcement on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, accompanied by a teaser visual, the unveiling of the main staff, and an announcement video, commemorating the manga’s fourth anniversary.

A Precious Daily Life

The manga, which Yuami launched on their X (formerly Twitter) account on June 11, 2021, captures the essence of daily life through the eyes of a Koala. Whether the days are filled with joy or tinged with sadness, Koala cherishes each moment as a precious part of their journey. With an optimistic outlook, Koala believes that every day is a good day, and tomorrow holds the promise of even better things.

Kadokawa published the manga’s first compiled book volume in 2022, followed by the fourth volume on February 14, 2025.

The Creative Team

The anime adaptation is being directed by Takao Kato, known for As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill. Studio Mother, the animation studio behind the web anime, is also known for More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers..

What to Expect

While details about the anime’s plot remain scarce, it’s expected to follow the heartwarming and relatable themes of the manga. Viewers can anticipate a series of vignettes that capture the simple joys and everyday struggles of Koala, presented with Studio Mother’s signature animation style.

Other Koala Anime

Koala E Nikki is not the first anime to feature a Koala.

  • Adventures of the Little Koala: This anime television series produced by Hakuhodo aired in Japan from October 4, 1984, to March 28, 1985. It was later aired in the United States on Nickelodeon. The storyline revolved around Roobear Koala and his friends in their utopian village.
  • Noozles: Also known as The Wondrous Koala Blinky, this 26-episode anime by Nippon Animation Company was originally released in Japan in 1984. It depicts the adventures of a 12-year-old girl named Sandy and her koala friends, Blinky and Pinky, who are from the extra-dimensional realm of Koalawalla Land.

Other Anime Adaptations

  • Ikoku Nikki (Diary of a Strange Land): Tomoko Yamashita’s josei manga Ikoku Nikki is also receiving an anime adaptation by Studio Shuka. The story follows a 35-year-old novelist, Makio Koudai, who becomes the guardian of her 15-year-old niece, Asa Takumi, after her sister’s death. The anime is directed by Miyuki Ooshiro, with Kohei Kiyasu handling series composition, Kenji Hayama designing the characters, and Kensuke Ushio composing the music.

As more information becomes available, fans can look forward to immersing themselves in the delightful world of Koala E Nikki and experiencing the everyday adventures of Koala in a brand-new way.
