Kodansha USA has officially announced print editions for several anticipated titles, including Yuna Hirasawa’s “Luca, the Dragon Vet” and “My Journey to Her” manga, alongside a 2-in-1 omnibus release for Harold Sakuishi’s acclaimed “BECK” manga. All three print releases are scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.
The announcement brings several popular digital titles and a classic series into physical print, catering to collectors and new readers alike.
Dive into Dragon Veterinary Adventures with ‘Luca, the Dragon Vet’
“Luca, the Dragon Vet” is a magical medical drama that follows the titular character, Luca, in a world where dragons are integral to travel, work, and even war. Luca dreams of becoming a dragon vet, but faces formidable challenges due to stringent admissions rules, exceptionally difficult classes, and her notorious family name. Kodansha USA describes the series as an adventure-filled medical drama, appealing to both younger and older fans of titles like “Witch Hat Atelier” and “The Apothecary Diaries.”
Yuna Hirasawa, the creator of “My Journey to Her,” debuted “Luca, the Dragon Vet” in Kodansha’s Morning two magazine in September 2022, with medical supervision from Hoko Tsuda. The manga’s fifth compiled book volume was published in Japan on May 22, preceding its upcoming English print debut.
Yuna Hirasawa’s Autobiographical ‘My Journey to Her’ Arrives in Print
Also coming to print is Yuna Hirasawa’s poignant autobiographical manga, “My Journey to Her” (original title: Boku ga Watashi ni Naru Tame ni). This single-volume work details Hirasawa’s personal experiences living with gender dysphoria and her journey from Japan to Thailand in 2015 for gender-affirming surgery. The memoir explores sensitive topics such as suicidal ideation, transphobia, and the complex, yet ultimately joyous, experience of transitioning, all told with honesty and occasional humor.
“My Journey to Her” was originally serialized in Kodansha’s Morning magazine from March to April 2016 and received a single volume release in Japan in June 2016. Kodansha USA Publishing began releasing the manga digitally in English in July 2024. The manga has already garnered critical acclaim, winning the Best Digital Comic award at the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards on July 25.
The Return of a Rock Classic: ‘BECK’ Omnibus
Fans of music-centric manga can look forward to the “BECK” omnibus, which will compile Harold Sakuishi’s iconic rock band story into a 2-in-1 print edition. “BECK” follows a group of Japanese teenagers as they form a rock band and navigate their struggle to achieve fame, focusing on the journey of 14-year-old Yukio “Koyuki” Tanaka.
Sakuishi launched “BECK” in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine in July 1999, concluding the series in 2008 with 34 tankōbon volumes. While Tokyopop initially published 14 volumes of the manga in North America from 2005 to 2008, Kodansha USA Publishing made all 34 volumes available digitally in 2020. The series has also inspired a 26-episode anime television series in 2004 and a live-action film in 2010. The upcoming 2-in-1 omnibus will mark its return to print in English.
