Kōji Yanagi, the acclaimed author behind the popular “Joker Game” spy novel series, is set to see another one of his works adapted into manga. His novel, Unbreakable ~Yaburezaru Monotachi~ (Unbreakable: The Undefeated), will receive a manga adaptation by newcomer Tamaki Kaigane, debuting in Akita Publishing’s Young Champion magazine on August 26, in its 18th issue.

The original “Joker Game” novel garnered significant critical acclaim, winning the Nihon Suiri Sakka Kyōkai-shō (Mystery Writers of Japan) award in 2009. The success of “Joker Game” led to a broader media franchise, including a live-action film in 2015, an anime television series produced by Production I.G in 2016, and multiple previous manga adaptations. The series, known for its intricate spy narratives, has collectively sold over 1.35 million copies across its various novels, which include sequels like Double Joker, Paradise Lost, and Last Waltz.
The upcoming manga adaptation focuses on a different, yet equally compelling, narrative from Yanagi’s bibliography: Unbreakable ~Yaburezaru Monotachi~. Kadokawa originally published this novel in 2024.
