The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Umikaze Minamino and Laruha’s fantasy light novel series, “Kunon the Sorcerer Can See” (Majutsu-shi Kunon wa Mieteiru), has unveiled additional cast members, key production staff, and confirmed its premiere for January 2026. Crunchyroll is set to simulcast the series, making it accessible to international audiences.
A new teaser trailer accompanied these announcements, providing a glimpse into the magical world of Kunon Gurion.
Expanded Cast Brings Key Characters to Life
Joining the previously announced lead voice actors, Akari Kitō has been revealed as the voice of Mirica Huguria. Mirica is characterized as the ninth princess and Kunon’s fiancée.
The main cast shaping the narrative includes:
- Saori Hayami as Kunon Gurion, the blind protagonist with extraordinary magical talent.
- Maaya Uchida as Iko Round, Kunon’s maid.
- Akari Kitō as Mirica Huguria, the newly announced ninth princess and Kunon’s fiancée.
Production Team Details and Studio Behind the Magic
The animation production is being handled by Platinum Vision, known for its work on various anime titles. Guiding the series as director is Hideaki Ōba, whose previous credits include “Love of Kill” and “I’m in Love with the Villainess.”
Other key staff members contributing to the anime’s realization include:

The story centers on Kunon Gurion, a young man born without sight. His unwavering goal is to achieve the unprecedented feat of creating new eyes for himself using water magic. After only five months of dedicated study, Kunon demonstrates exceptional talent, quickly surpassing his own teacher.
His remarkable skills and ingenuity soon draw the attention of the royal court, earning him the rare opportunity to become a disciple of the land’s most powerful magician. The narrative delves into Kunon’s journey as he explores the mysteries of magic, continually defying conventional wisdom in his pursuit of vision.
Origins of the Magical Tale
“Kunon the Sorcerer Can See” originates from a popular light novel series written by Umikaze Minamino and illustrated by Laruha. It began its serialization on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in August 2021. Fujimi Shobo later acquired the series, publishing print volumes under their Kadokawa Books imprint starting in March 2022. Seven volumes of the light novel have been released to date. Yen Press holds the license for the English publication of the light novels.
A manga adaptation, illustrated by La-na, also began serialization in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in April 2022, with six volumes published so far.
The anime is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on TOKYO MX, BS Asahi, and WOWOW starting in January 2026.
