The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Leeanne M. Krecic’s popular webcomic, “Let’s Play,” is officially slated for an October 2025 premiere. A new English-subtitled trailer has further unveiled additional cast members and staff, building excitement for its debut. The series will broadcast in Japan on Fuji TV’s “+Ultra” programming block, with Crunchyroll confirmed to stream the anime worldwide.

Production Team and Studio

Studio OLM, known for its work on “The Apothecary Diaries” and “Pokémon Sun & Moon,” is at the helm of the animation for “Let’s Play.” Daiki Tomiyasu, recognized for his directorial work on “Pokémon Sun & Moon,” is directing the series. Aya Matsui, the screenwriter behind “Marmalade Boy,” is handling the series composition, ensuring a blend of emotional depth and playful humor. Character designs are being crafted by Ebimo. The original webcomic, “Let’s Play,” created by Leeanne M. Krecic (also known as Mongie), began in 2016 and concluded its third season in September 2022 on WEBTOON.

Expanded Voice Cast Details

The English-subtitled trailer confirmed several key voice actors joining the previously announced lead. Kana Hanazawa, celebrated for her role as Mitsuri Kanroji in “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” will voice the main protagonist, Sam Young. Joining her are Shimba Tsuchiya (“Tsutomu Goshiki” in “Haikyu!!”) as Marshall Law, and Yuichi Nakamura (“Satoru Gojo” in “JUJUTSU KAISEN”) as Charles Jones.

A Story of Gaming, Romance, and Reality

“Let’s Play” centers on Samara “Sam” Young, a game developer in Los Angeles on the cusp of realizing her dreams with her first video game, “Ruminate.” Her aspirations hit a snag when a popular streamer delivers a scathing review of her game. To Sam’s dismay, she discovers this troublesome critic is her new neighbor. The series promises a comedic, romantic, and relatable narrative delving into themes of gaming culture, internet memes, and social anxiety.

The anime had its world premiere at Anime Expo 2025 on July 3, where creator Leeanne M. Krecic, director Daiki Tomiyasu, and producers Heather Horn, Hana Sugawara, and Minaka Sakamoto were in attendance for the debut of the first episode.
