The manga adaptation of Mochimaru Sakaki’s light novel series, Final Boss Fake-out: The Protagonist Thinks She Killed Me So Now I’m Free!, is slated to conclude with its seventh volume. The final volume is scheduled to be released on July 7th. Namiki Tsukiyama launched the manga adaptation on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform in November 2020.
Isekai Antics and RPG Exploits
Final Boss Fake-out is an Isekai fantasy manga about a final boss from an RPG who finds a way to become unstoppable. Demon Lord Menas, the ruler of the Noa Empire, discovers the Resistance’s forces at his doorstep. He is confronted by Alex, a beautiful, blonde, and determined young woman. Menas experiences a strange sense of déjà vu, realizing that this situation mirrors the prologue of “ResNoa,” a video game he plays in his dreams.
Recognizing that he is the final boss of his own world, Menas decides to fake his death at Alex’s hands. This allows him to seize a new life, using his knowledge of cheat codes and exploits to protect his newfound freedom. Comikey has been publishing the series in English.
From Web Novel to Manga Finale
Sakaki originally launched the web novel on the ncode syosetsu website in November 2019. The manga adaptation by Tsukiyama followed a year later. Now, after several years of publication, the series is coming to an end with the release of its seventh volume.
