Details on the Final Season’s Music and Premiere
The announcement of the theme song artists builds excitement for the concluding chapter of the popular BL (Boys’ Love) parody. Moxymill’s “Sugar×Bitter” and harukaze record’s “Yoru ni Mogutte” are expected to set the tone for the final installment of the live-action adaptation of Konkichi’s manga.
Premiere and Broadcast Information
Unlike previous seasons that were often available on premium subscription channels or streaming services, the “Final” season marks a significant shift, as it will be the first to premiere and serialize on over-the-air broadcast television via ABC TV. This wider accessibility is likely to bring the series to an even larger audience. The first two seasons were available on GagaOOLala and Viki, while the third season premiered on the Lemino streaming service.
Returning Cast and Creative Team
Fans will be pleased to know that Atsuhiro Inukai will return as the main character, reprising his role from previous seasons. Other familiar faces returning include Yūtarō as Ayato, the protagonist’s younger brother; Asahi Itō as Kikuchi, a classmate; Akihisa Shiono as Tōjō; and Hayate Wada as the BL manga creator Mayama.
Kōichirō Miki, who directed the first two seasons, is returning to direct the final season, with Izumi Kawasaki once again penning the scripts. Erina Koyama is credited with composing the music for the series.
Adapting the Manga’s Conclusion
The final season of the live-action drama will adapt the story from the fifth compiled book volume of Konkichi’s “A Man Who Defies the World of BL” manga. The manga, which began serialization digitally in November 2018, follows a college student who realizes he is living in a BL manga world and desperately tries to avoid falling into typical BL tropes. The series is known for its comedic take on the BL genre, often featuring the main character’s inner monologues and efforts to resist romantic advances.
The previous season, “A Man Who Defies the World of BL 2024,” also featured new theme music, with the seven-member dance vocal group GENIC performing the theme song “New Game!!”. The anticipation for the “Final” season highlights the enduring popularity of this unique parody within the boys’ love genre.
