Film Details and Theatrical Release
“Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai Kanketsu-hen Part 2” is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on November 7, 2025. This movie is the second installment in a three-part film series that continues the narrative after the two-season TV anime and its OVA.
Continuing the Idol GPX Storyline
The new film is set to take place concurrently with last year’s “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club The Movie – Finale – Chapter 1”. While the first film saw Ayumu, Kasumi, Shizuku, Kanata, Emma, and Lanzhu journey to Okinawa for the Idol GPX, an individual idol competition utilizing a streaming app, the second chapter shifts its focus to a different group of members. The premise remains connected to the Idol GPX, with the spotlight in “Part 2” falling on Setsuna, Ai, Rina, Mia, Karin, and Shioriko.
New Settings and Characters
The second film will transport viewers to the Kansai region, featuring Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe as its settings. Additionally, “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Final Chapter Part 2” introduces a new character named Chloe Taylor, who is Mia’s older sister.
The Expanding Nijigasaki Universe
The Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club franchise, a significant part of the larger Love Live! multimedia project, has seen consistent growth since its inception. The TV anime’s first season aired in 2020, followed by a second season in 2022. An original video animation (OVA) titled “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club NEXT SKY” was released in June 2023, preceding this current trilogy of films.
Tomoyuki Kawamura returns as the director for the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club films at animation studio Sunrise. Jin Tanaka is responsible for the script, while Takumi Yokota handles character designs, and Naoki Endou composes the music. Crunchyroll currently streams the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club series.
