Manga artist Uoyama, known for the popular series Love’s in Sight! (Yankee-kun to Hakujō Girl), is set to launch a new manga titled Kimi to Issho ni Kayoitai (I Want to Go to School With You) on July 25. The new series will debut in the 14th issue of Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine.
The announcement came on July 11 via the magazine, revealing that the manga will feature a color opening page.
What to Expect from “Kimi to Issho ni Kayoitai”
While specific plot details remain under wraps, the magazine teases Kimi to Issho ni Kayoitai as a “strong yet kind” friendship drama. The story will center on a character who is willing to fight for a single desire. The title itself, “I Want to Go to School With You,” suggests a focus on relationships and perhaps the challenges or aspirations tied to a school setting.
Uoyama’s Previous Works
Uoyama’s most recognized work, Love’s in Sight!, captivated readers with its romantic comedy and coming-of-age themes. The series, which followed the blooming love between a delinquent and a spunky girl with a vision impairment, was serialized online from June 2018 to February 2022 on platforms like pixiv, Nico Nico Seiga, and Manga Hack. It was later compiled into eight tankōbon volumes by Media Factory. Viz Media has licensed Love’s in Sight! for English publication. The manga also inspired a live-action television drama adaptation that aired from October to December 2021.
Prior to this, Uoyama also launched Kogure Kyōdai no Tomurai Kissa (Kogure Sister & Brother’s Requiem Cafe) on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website in January 2024, concluding it earlier this year on January 10. The third and final compiled volume for that series was published in May.
Fans eagerly await Uoyama’s return with Kimi to Issho ni Kayoitai, anticipating another engaging narrative from the acclaimed manga artist.
