The upcoming anime series, “Me and the Alien MuMu,” has revealed that its main voice cast will perform the ending theme song. The series, adapted from Hiroki Miyashita’s manga, is scheduled to premiere in April 2025 and promises a unique blend of science fiction, comedy, and heartwarming moments.

A Unique Collaboration for the Ending Theme

The ending theme song, titled “Sayonara Jinrui” (Farewell Humanity), will be performed by the two lead voice actors: Momo Harumi, who voices the protagonist Sakurako Umeyashiki, and Etsuko Kozakura, who voices the alien MuMu. This in-character performance adds an extra layer of charm to the anime, showcasing the chemistry between the two main characters.

Song Details

“Sayonara Jinrui” is not an original composition for the anime; instead, it is a cover of a song by the band Tama. The lyrics were penned by Yōichirō Yanagihara, who also contributed to the song’s composition alongside Kōji Ishikawa and Kōji Takimoto. The song’s arrangement is handled by the Kuricorder Quartet, who are also responsible for composing the overall music for the anime series.

The Story Behind “Me and the Alien MuMu”

The series follows the story of MuMu, a cat-like alien who arrives on Earth with the mission to learn about home appliance technology. MuMu’s species has lost this technology, and he hopes to recover it by studying Earth’s advancements. He encounters Sakurako, a university student leading an ordinary life until MuMu’s unexpected arrival. Their cohabitation quickly turns into a series of chaotic and comedic events. The series promises a lighthearted and entertaining adventure, filled with household appliances and cat-themed humor.

Production Staff

The anime is produced by OLM, with Tomoya Takahashi directing. Keiichirō Ōchi is in charge of series scripts, while Kenji Ōta is handling the character designs. The music, as mentioned, is composed by the Kuricorder Quartet.

A Blend of Sci-Fi, Comedy, and Heart

“Me and the Alien MuMu” is not just another sci-fi comedy; it is a tale of an unexpected friendship, set against the backdrop of everyday life. The series promises to be a unique viewing experience, combining the charm of a quirky alien with the relatable challenges of a university student.

Anticipated Release

The main cast’s performance of the ending theme further solidifies the series’ appeal, showcasing the team’s dedication to creating a cohesive and engaging experience for the audience.

The anime is based on a manga by Hiroki Miyashita, which initially began as a one-shot story in June 2019. The manga’s serialization in Shonen Gahosha’s Young King OURs magazine further expanded its popularity, eventually leading to the highly anticipated anime adaptation.
