A television anime adaptation has been officially announced for Monshō Sakakibara’s light novel series, Majutsu o Kiwamete Tabi ni Deta Tensei Elf, Moteamashita Jumyō de Ikeru Densetsu to Naru (A Reincarnated Elf, Who Mastered Magic and Embarked on a Journey, Becomes a Living Legend With Excess Lifespan). The announcement was made on Wednesday with the opening of a special website for the anime project.
The Journey of Liese: A Reincarnated Elf’s Quest for Legacy
The story centers on a character named Liese, an elf who was once a man in his previous life. After an accident cut short his uneventful human existence, he was reincarnated into another world as an elf, now possessing a prodigious 1,000-year lifespan. Filled with regret over his past life’s lack of accomplishments, Liese embarks on a grand journey, driven by the desire to leave an indelible mark and prove that he truly lived this second chance.
Mastering Magic and Forging a Legend
During his extensive travels, Liese dedicates himself to mastering all forms of magical skills. His efforts lead him to become exceptionally proficient, eventually reuniting with a mysterious girl he once saved. Together, they embark on an adventure that ultimately solidifies his status as a living legend within their world. The narrative details his rapid acquisition of magical prowess, including mastering all healing magic by age 20, all attribute magic by age 30, and deciphering ancient magic formulas by age 100. With 900 years remaining, he ventures beyond the Elven forest, becoming a warrior, founding countries, and even becoming an object of worship as the founder of magic.
Origins of the Series: Web Novel to Manga
Monshō Sakakibara originally launched the Majutsu o Kiwamete Tabi ni Deta Tensei Elf story as a web novel on Kadokawa Corporation’s Kakuyomu website in July 2021. Starts Publishing later released the light novel version in December 2022, featuring illustrations by Hatori Kyoka.
The Manga Adaptation
A manga adaptation, illustrated by kanco, began serialization on Starts Publishing’s Novema website in May 2023, under their isekai comic label, Glast COMICS. The manga is also serialized on Starts Publishing’s new manga website, Manga Zegra. The first compiled book volume of the manga shipped in March 2024, with the fifth volume slated for release on November 28.
As of now, further details regarding the anime’s production staff, cast, or release window have not been publicly disclosed.
