Makoto Sanda’s Majo Suiri (Witch’s Deduction) gothic mystery novel series has officially received a manga adaptation, which launched on Kadokawa’s Kadocomi manga website last Friday. Yū Mitsuki is illustrating the new manga series.
About Majo Suiri
The Majo Suiri (Witch’s Deduction) novels delve into a world of gothic mystery, revolving around the enigmatic Kunori Orizue. Kunori is a beautiful, mysterious girl who identifies herself as a “witch”. Her presence seems to attract all sorts of strange and questionable incidents. The narrative sees her reunite with her childhood friend, Takumi, who subsequently finds himself drawn into the various mysteries that unfold around Kunori.
Makoto Sanda, known for his work on series such as Rental Magica and The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II, first published the Majo Suiri novel series in August 2023, with the second volume following in December 2023. The original novels feature illustrations by Kaomin.
The Creators Behind the Adaptation
The manga adaptation is being drawn by Yū Mitsuki, and it is being serialized on Kadokawa’s Kadocomi manga website. This marks another adaptation for Makoto Sanda’s works, adding to his extensive bibliography that includes light novels and contributions to popular franchises.
Makoto Sanda’s Notable Works
Sanda has a prolific career in light novels and manga. His Rental Magica light novel series ran from 2004 to 2013 across 24 volumes, inspiring a 24-episode television anime adaptation in 2007. He also penned The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II light novel series, set in the Fate/stay night universe, which also received a manga adaptation and a television anime adaptation. Furthermore, Sanda was the dungeon master for the “Red Dragon” tabletop role-playing session that inspired the Chaos Dragon television anime. He also co-launched The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Wizard’s Blue, a spinoff manga of Kore Yamazaki’s The Ancient Magus’ Bride, which concluded in March 2024.
