Manga Up! Global, Square Enix’s international manga service, has announced the addition of five new manga titles to its English-language catalog, including “Notorious No More: The Villainess Enjoys Feigning Incompetence” and “The Free Life of the Forlorn Lady: Shining On as a Gem Appraiser After Getting Dumped.” These new series began rolling out in early October and continue through mid-October, offering readers a diverse range of genres from fantasy to romantic comedy.
New Additions to the Manga Up! Global Catalog
The recent influx of titles highlights Manga Up! Global’s ongoing commitment to expanding its offerings for international readers. The newly added manga include a mix of adaptations from light novel series and original works, providing fresh stories for existing subscribers and new readers alike.
Notorious No More: The Villainess Enjoys Feigning Incompetence
One of the prominent new additions is Kazusa Subaru’s manga adaptation of Hanako Arashi’s “Notorious No More: The Villainess Enjoys Feigning Incompetence” (Kitai no Akujo, Sandome no Jinsei de “Musai Munō” o Tanoshimu) novels. This fantasy series, which debuted on Manga Up! Global on October 5, follows Beljeanne, an infamous villainess who, after two previous lives, aims to live a perfectly normal third life by hiding her true abilities. The manga initially launched in Square Enix’s Gangan Online in October 2024.
The Free Life of the Forlorn Lady: Shining On as a Gem Appraiser After Getting Dumped
Another significant addition, arriving on October 10, is Saki Nagakura’s manga adaptation of Yuto Yotsuba’s light novel series, “The Free Life of the Forlorn Lady: Shining On as a Gem Appraiser After Getting Dumped” (Botsuraku Reijō no Okinimesumama: Konyaku Haki Sareta node Hōseki Kanteishi to Shite Dokuritsu Shimasu). This story centers on Audrey, a noblewoman without magical powers who dreams of becoming a gem appraiser. After her engagement is broken off, a magical pact with a genie grants her newfound abilities, allowing her to pursue a free life as a magical gem appraiser. The manga began serialization in June 2024.
Additional Manga Titles
Beyond these two featured series, Manga Up! Global has also introduced three other manga throughout October, further diversifying its library:
- Boyish Girlfriend (Boyish Kanojo ga Kawai Sugiru) by Gyūnyūmugigohan: Added on October 11, this romantic comedy follows a boy who discovers his tomboyish girlfriend’s unexpected girly side. The manga started on X/Twitter in August 2024 and later on Square Enix’s Gangan pixiv online label.
- From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: The Mage Knight’s Origin (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru Gaiden: Hajimari no Mahō Kenshi) by Megumu Soramichi and Itsuki Watanabe: This spin-off of the “From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman” series became available on October 13. It chronicles a girl’s journey to master both sword and sorcery, having launched on Square Enix’s Manga UP! service in November 2024.
- I Can’t Choose A Childhood Friend! (Osananajimi o Erabenai!) by Tsukasa Furokawa: The final addition in this wave, released on October 15, delves into the challenges of romantic choices.
