Diving Into the New Releases on Manga Up! Global
The newly added titles offer distinct genres, catering to a diverse audience within the global manga community. Both series originated on Square Enix’s Manga UP! service in Japan before making their way to the international platform.
“Yang Can’t Live Alone”: A Modern Romance with a Secret
Penned and illustrated by sooncha, “Yang Can’t Live Alone” (original Japanese title: Yang-senpai wa Hitori de Ikiteikenai) introduces readers to Yuu, a diligent and serious college student whose competence often intimidates potential suitors, leaving her longing for a “number one.” Her life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Yang, an attractive and friendly Chinese exchange student. Yuu soon uncovers Yang’s significant life secret, leading to an initial “professional” arrangement that gradually evolves into a heartfelt romance.
The series is categorized under genres such as shoujo, college life, comedy, drama, romance, and slice of life, promising a blend of humor, emotional depth, and relatable character dynamics. “Yang Can’t Live Alone” originally launched on Square Enix’s Japanese Manga UP! service on December 5, and its first compiled volume was shipped on May 7.
“Your Castle’s Little Helper”: Isekai, Fantasy, and a Hidden Power
“Your Castle’s Little Helper” (original Japanese title: Anata no Oshiro no Kobito-san) transports readers to a fantastical realm. The story, written by Kazuhito Minagi and illustrated by PenekoR, centers on a starving child within a vast castle. This child miraculously awakens with the memories of Chihiro Sagami, a modern Japanese office worker, effectively making it an isekai (another world) narrative. Driven by a fierce will to survive, she forms an agreement with a kindhearted chef: food in exchange for work. Her exceptional skills quickly earn her the affectionate nickname “Little Helper” among the castle staff. However, a deeper mystery surrounds her golden eyes, which conceal a significant secret that could influence the fate of the world.
This series began its serialization on Square Enix’s Manga UP! service in Japan in July 2024. Its second compiled volume was released on March 7, with the third volume slated for release on September 5. The manga is an adaptation of Minagi’s original web novel, which was first published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Become Novelists) website in April 2021, concluding in June 2021, and later released in four compiled book volumes by Square Enix.
