Introduction of Webcomics from Snap Studio
In a new development for the platform, Mangamo will now also offer webcomics, starting with titles from the Chinese company Snap Studio. This move signifies an expansion beyond traditional Japanese manga into other forms of digital comics.
Initial Snap Studio Webcomic Titles
The first webcomics from Snap Studio available on Mangamo include:
- Keep Calm, Mr. Song! Live Happily Ever After With My Ex’s Uncle.
- Love After Marriage.
- Nip and Tuck.
This diversification into webcomics caters to a broader audience interested in digitally native comic formats, often characterized by their full-color, vertical-scroll design.
Mangamo’s Platform and Accessibility
Mangamo operates as a mobile manga subscription service, providing ad-free, unlimited access to its licensed content. The app first launched for iOS devices in the U.S. and Canada in April 2020, followed by a worldwide Android version in November 2020. New chapters are uploaded daily, and users can read manga either from left to right or by scrolling vertically. The service also incorporates a coin system, allowing readers to purchase the latest chapters of manga for US$1 per 10 coins. A “Plus” membership offers unlimited access to over 50 exclusive titles and thousands of chapters for a monthly subscription fee, typically US$4.99, though costs may vary by region. Many series also offer free chapters for readers to try before subscribing or purchasing.
