Story
“Mechanical Marie” tells the story of Marie, a former genius martial artist who now works as a “mechanical maid” for Arthur, the heir to a powerful conglomerate. Arthur is a misanthropic young man who avoids human interaction due to a fierce inheritance battle that makes him a constant target for assassins. To work for Arthur, Marie hides her true identity as a human, taking advantage of her naturally expressionless face to flawlessly fulfill her duties as a mechanical maid.

Meet Marie, the mechanical maid.” Marie is a human girl who now hides her identity and works undercover as a “mechanical maid” in the mansion of Arthur, the heir to a powerful conglomerate who despises humans. If her true identity is discovered, it’s instant execution! Marie juggles her duties while secretly protecting Arthur from assassins, but things get complicated when Arthur begins to develop feelings for her and gets dangerously close to discovering her secret.

Marie: Voiced by Nao Toyama, known for her roles in “A Couple of Cuckoos” and “Kanojo, Okarishimasu”. Marie is a former genius martial artist who now works as a mechanical maid, hiding her human identity. Toyama describes Marie as someone who appears emotionless but is full of joy, anger, sorrow, and delight on the inside. She aims to portray Marie’s warm, kind, and genuine core, as well as her pure and beautiful feelings for Arthur, with care and tenderness.
Arthur: Voiced by Haruki Ishiya, known for his roles in “Saint Cecilia & Pastor Lawrence” and “Hibike! Euphonium”. “Mechanical Marie” was originally a one-shot manga published in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine in March 2020. It was then serialized in the same magazine from June 2020 to June 2023, with six tankobon volumes released. In February 2025, Yen Press announced they licensed the series for English publication, with the first volume set to release on August 16th, 2025. A sequel series, titled “Mechanical Marie+”, began serialization in LaLa on April 24, 2025.
