The popular hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts are officially back to perform the opening theme song for the highly anticipated second season of the anime series “Call of the Night”. A new trailer has been released, previewing their new song titled “Mirage,” and offering fans a taste of what’s to come in this supernatural romance. The premiere of Season 2 is scheduled for July 4th, 2025, at 11:30 p.m. JST, airing on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block.
A Perfect Match: Creepy Nuts and “Call of the Night”
Creepy Nuts previously performed both the opening (“Daten”) and ending (“Yofukashi no Uta”) themes for the first season, creating a strong association between their music and the anime’s unique atmosphere. The title of the original manga was even inspired by Creepy Nuts’ 2018 song “Call of the Night” (“Yofukashi no Uta” in Japanese). Their return for Season 2 highlights the synergy between the artists and the source material.
R-Shitei of Creepy Nuts commented on their involvement with Season 2: “Season 1 depicted the dry kindness of the night and its role as a refuge for those who are saved there. In contrast, Season 2 depicts the dampness of the night and its role as a place to dump lingering attachments and regrets, along with the adults struggling to come to terms with it… As someone who has been staying up late at night for 20 years, I just can’t see it as something that doesn’t concern me… I know I have to live in the morning and day, and I should finally cut ties with it, but the relationship drags on… The song is about the sordid relationship between myself and the night.”
