The highly anticipated anime adaptation of nonco’s popular manga, Mistress Kanan is Devilishly Easy (also known as Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi), has officially announced its main voice cast, featuring prominent talents Aoi Koga and Seiichirō Yamashita in the leading roles. The romantic comedy, which centers on a demoness navigating human high school life and an unexpected love interest, is slated for a 2026 premiere.
Cast and Production Details
Aoi Koga, renowned for her roles as Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and Shouko Komi in Komi Can’t Communicate, will lend her voice to the titular character, Kanan Takakiyo. Kanan is a powerful demoness who infiltrates the human world with the initial goal of devouring souls.
Joining Koga is Seiichirō Yamashita, known for his work as Cid Kagenou in The Eminence in Shadow and Kakeru Naruse in Orange, who will voice the unsuspecting high school student Yōji Kyōgi. Yōji becomes Kanan’s initial target, but their interaction takes an unexpected turn, leading to a “romantic contract” and a series of humorous and heartwarming first experiences for the demoness new to love. The pairing of these two voice actors, both recognized for their work in successful romantic comedies, has generated considerable excitement among fans.
Studio KAI, known for its animation work on series such as 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! and Fuuto PI, is handling the animation production for Mistress Kanan is Devilishly Easy. The anime’s official website unveiled a new key visual alongside the cast announcement, further building anticipation for the upcoming series.
The Story of a Demoness in Love
The narrative of Mistress Kanan is Devilishly Easy follows Kanan, a demoness with immense power and a taste for human souls, who disguises herself as a high school student to blend into society. Her initial plan to prey on Yōji Kyōgi quickly unravels when, instead of devouring his soul, she finds herself entangled in a romantic relationship with him.
This sudden foray into human romance presents a unique challenge for Kanan, who has lived for millennia without ever experiencing love. The series promises a “sweet-and-sour youth” and a “whirlwind of sweet-and-sour youth and nonstop gags” as Kanan navigates the unfamiliar territory of awkward dates, hand-holding, and developing genuine feelings. It explores the comedic and touching aspects of a powerful, yet pure-hearted, demon girl’s first love, filled with clumsy moments and new experiences.
The original manga, Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi by nonco, began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in June 2022. With nine compiled book volumes already published and a tenth due for release, the manga has garnered a dedicated following, eager to see its charming story brought to life on screen. The anime adaptation is poised to deliver a delightful supernatural romantic comedy that explores the humorous complexities of an otherworldly being falling in love in the most unexpected of circumstances.
