Bandai Namco Filmworks has released the full trailer and main visual for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt – Path of the Little Challenger, a theatrical compilation film set to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 31, 2025. The film re-edits the 12 episodes of the Urðr Hunt mobile game anime and includes new footage, alongside a brand-new short anime titled “Makuai no Kusabi” (Kusabi of the Interlude) that will screen concurrently.
The movie will serve as a definitive cinematic experience for the Urðr Hunt narrative, which originally debuted within the Iron-Blooded Orphans G mobile app in November 2022. This theatrical release also marks a significant milestone as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans television series.
Urðr Hunt: From Mobile App to Silver Screen
The Urðr Hunt project was first announced in 2019 and launched as part of the Kidō Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans G app, which combined anime and game elements. The app’s service concluded in January 2024, but the story of Wistario Afam and his journey to find Urðr Hunt will now reach a wider audience through this special theatrical edition.
The film, officially titled Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt Special Edition: Path of the Little Challenger, compiles all 12 episodes of the animated content from the mobile game. It is directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, the original director of the Iron-Blooded Orphans series, ensuring a consistent vision for the narrative’s transition to film. Masaru Yokoyama returns as the composer.
“Makuai no Kusabi”: A New Chapter for Tekkadan
A significant revelation from the trailer and accompanying announcement is the inclusion of “Makuai no Kusabi,” a new short anime. This short film is set between the first and second seasons of the original Iron-Blooded Orphans television series and will feature beloved returning characters Mikazuki Augus (voiced by Kengo Kawanishi) and Orga Itsuka (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya).
The plot of “Makuai no Kusabi” will delve into Tekkadan’s growing reputation in the Outer Sphere after their successful mission to escort Kudelia Aina Bernstein. It will explore Orga’s challenges as he grapples with his expanded leadership responsibilities and the organization’s need to act independently. The returning staff for this short includes screenwriter Mari Okada, character designer Michinori Chiba (based on Yu Ito’s original designs), and mechanical designers Naohiro Washio and Kanetake Ebikawa, all key figures from the original TV series. Sunrise is producing the animation.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt – Path of the Little Challenger is scheduled to open in Japanese cinemas on October 31, 2025. Advance tickets for this double feature will be available in Japan starting August 8, 2025.
Beyond Japan, Bandai Namco Filmworks has confirmed plans for a North American release, with further details to be announced in the coming months. This expansion will allow a global audience to experience the Urðr Hunt story in its new cinematic format, alongside the commemorative Tekkadan short.
