What is Tougen Anki?
Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yura Urushibara. It began serialization in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion in June 2020. Yen Press is releasing the manga in English in North America.
The world of Tougen Anki explores the conflict between the descendants of Oni (demons) and Momotaro, drawing from the Japanese folktale of Momotaro. Long ago, the Oni, aware of their own ferocity, lived in seclusion. However, their peace was shattered by an invasion led by Momotaro. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the “Momotaro Agency” and the “Oni Agency,” respectively, and have been locked in conflict ever since.
The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, discovers he has Oni blood following an attack by Momotaro. This leads him to discover his destiny and enroll in Rasetsu Academy, a training school for Oni.
