The “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” anime series has announced that Asami Seto will be joining its cast. Seto will voice the character Makoto Tsukauchi, a college senior of Koichi who is researching the hero system. Makoto will make her debut in the anime’s seventh episode, which aired on May 19, 2025.

“My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” is a spin-off and prequel to Kohei Horikoshi’s “My Hero Academia” manga series. It’s written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. The manga was first published in Jump GIGA in August 2016 before moving to Shonen Jump+ later that year. The series concluded in May 2022 with 15 volumes.
The anime adaptation is directed by Kenichi Suzuki, known for his work on “Cells at Work!” and “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure”. BONES FILM, a newly established company within Studio BONES, is handling the animation. Yosuke Kuroda, who worked on the main “My Hero Academia” anime, is in charge of series composition. Takahiko Yoshida (“Yowamushi Pedal,” “Cells at Work!”) is the character designer, and Yuki Hayashi is returning to compose the music with Shogo Yamashiro and Yuki Furuhashi.
Story
“My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” follows Koichi Haimawari, a college student who aspires to be a hero but has given up on his dream. In a world where 80% of the population possesses superpowers called Quirks, only a few are chosen to become heroes. Koichi’s life changes when he encounters the vigilante Knuckleduster and gets recruited, along with Pop Step, to become vigilantes.

The anime premiered on April 7, 2025, on Tokyo MX and BS NTV channels. Crunchyroll is streaming the series worldwide, excluding Asia, and also offers an English dub.
