The announcement was made in this year’s 48th issue of Kodansha’s Young Magazine. This news follows the conclusion of their hit manga, My Home Hero, which ended its serialization in July 2024.
A Highly Anticipated Return to Kodansha’s Young Magazine
The upcoming manga marks a swift return for the creative team to Kodansha’s publishing lineup, specifically within Young Magazine. While specific details regarding the title, genre, or premise of the new work have yet to be revealed, the announcement has already generated significant anticipation among fans of their previous collaboration.
The Legacy of My Home Hero
My Home Hero, written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki, captivated readers with its gripping narrative. The series was serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine from May 29, 2017, to July 29, 2024. Over its seven-year run, the manga garnered a dedicated fanbase and was collected into 26 tankōbon volumes.
The story of My Home Hero centered on Tetsuo Tosu, an ordinary salaryman who finds himself embroiled in a dangerous criminal underworld after taking extreme measures to protect his daughter. The manga explored themes of crime, suspense, and the lengths a parent would go to for their family. It amassed over 4 million copies in circulation and was adapted into an anime television series in April 2023, as well as a live-action drama in October 2023 and a live-action film in March 2024. Kodansha USA is responsible for publishing the manga in English.
