The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Matsuri Akai’s light novel series, My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s (also known as Assassin de Aru Ore no Status ga Yūsha Yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi Nodaga), has unveiled its ending theme song and officially confirmed its premiere date of October 6, 2025. The announcements were made in the anime’s second main promotional video, which offers a fresh look at the upcoming fantasy series.
BONNIE PINK Performs “Like Gravity” as Ending Theme
The new promotional video provided fans with a preview of the anime’s ending theme song, titled “Like Gravity.” Japanese singer-songwriter BONNIE PINK is performing the track and also penned its lyrics. This reveal adds to the musical landscape of the series, following the earlier announcement of the opening theme “Issen” (Flash of Light) by the virtual girls duo VESPERBELL.
BONNIE PINK has a storied 30-year career, having provided theme songs for various anime series including Rurouni Kenshin and GANTZ. She expressed her aim to capture the feelings of Amelia Rosequartz, one of the main characters, in “Like Gravity,” inspired by Amelia’s “Gravity Magic.”

The My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s anime is set to officially premiere on October 6, 2025. Diving into the Assassin’s World: Plot and Production
The anime adapts Matsuri Akai’s popular light novel series, which has sold over 1.5 million copies across physical and digital formats. The story follows high school student Akira Oda, who, along with his classmates, is suddenly transported to a fantasy world. While his peers receive powerful “cheat-level” abilities, Akira is given the seemingly unremarkable class of “Assassin,” largely due to his naturally low presence.
However, Akira’s unassuming nature proves to be an advantage, allowing him to excel in his new role as a silent assassin. As he navigates this new world, he begins to notice inconsistencies, including suspiciously high starting stats and other details that don’t quite fit. His investigation into these anomalies leads him to uncover a sinister royal conspiracy, making him a powerful enemy in the very king who summoned him. With the help of the elven spirit medium Amelia, Akira must find the strength to rectify the situation and seek his revenge.
The anime is being produced by Sunrise, with Nobuyoshi Habara (known for the Fafner series) directing. Kunihiko Okada (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy) is in charge of series scripts and composition, while Hirona Okada (Gundam Build Metaverse) and Kaori Saito (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury assistant character animation director) are designing the characters. Satoshi Igarashi (TOKYO LOGIC) is composing the music.
