A new anime series titled Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai R (or Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai Returns) has been announced, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Shimahara’s original doujin project. The announcement was made on “Underwear Day.”
Commemorating a Decade of Disgusted Looks and Underwear
The new series, Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai R, celebrates ten years since the inception of Shimahara’s popular doujin work. The project, known for its premise of women displaying their underwear with a disgusted expression, has garnered a significant following.
Returning Staff and Production
Saya Fukase is set to return as director for the new anime, with UWAN Pictures also returning as the animation studio. Shimahara, the original creator, will again be credited for the original work and general supervision.
A Brief History of the Anime Adaptations
The Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai project first received an anime adaptation in August 2018. This initial release, described as a 24-minute “season,” premiered at Comic Market 94. A second “season,” consisting of six episodes with a total runtime of 24 minutes, was released on Blu-ray Disc in December 2019 and also streamed on Niconico Channel in November 2019. A “version 3.0” OVA was released in February 2023.
Beyond the Screen: Manga and Exhibitions
The Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai franchise extends beyond anime, with over 70,000 books in print, encompassing illustration collections, photo collections, and manga. The manga, titled Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai – Yo wa Pantsu ga Mitai zo, began serialization in May 2019 on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website.
To further mark the 10th anniversary, an exhibit of illustrations is scheduled to take place at Art Gallery Akihabara in Tokyo from August 22-31. The exhibit will also offer merchandise for sale.
