The highly anticipated new anime adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s classic manga, Cat’s Eye, is set to premiere globally on Disney+ on September 26, 2025. A new trailer released by Disney+ Japan confirms the debut date and offers a fresh look at the Kisugi sisters in action as the elusive phantom thieves.
The Return of the Phantom Thieves
The new Cat’s Eye anime marks the first time in approximately 40 years that the beloved series has received a full anime adaptation. The original manga, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1985, captivated audiences with its blend of action, romance, and mystery. It follows the three Kisugi sisters—Hitomi, Rui, and Ai—who, by day, run a quaint cafe, but by night, transform into the notorious art thief group “Cat’s Eye.” Their mission: to recover art pieces originally owned by their long-lost father, Michael Heinz. The new adaptation aims to stay closer to the original manga, including the first anime appearance of the character Masato Kamiya, also known as “Nezumi,” who served as a basis for Ryo Saeba from Hojo’s City Hunter.

Streaming Schedule and Global Reach
The first six episodes of the Cat’s Eye anime will be available on Disney+’s Star brand from September 26 to October 31, with new episodes released weekly. The remaining six episodes, comprising the second part, will then stream weekly from December 26, 2025, to January 30, 2026. This global release on Disney+ underscores the platform’s commitment to expanding its anime offerings to a worldwide audience.
The original Cat’s Eye manga spanned 18 collected volumes and inspired two seasons of a TV anime series in the 1980s. The story centers on the Kisugi sisters’ daring heists as they seek to gather clues about their missing father through his stolen artwork, all while Hitomi navigates a complicated romance with Detective Toshio Utsumi, who is coincidentally tasked with catching the very thieves she is a part of. The new anime promises to reintroduce this thrilling narrative to both long-time fans and a new generation of viewers.
