Tokyo, Japan – The upcoming Fist of the North Star anime adaptation, set to premiere in 2026, has unveiled three additional cast members for pivotal roles: Jagi, Toki, and Raoh. The announcement was made during a special livestream event titled “It’s Fist of the North Star DAY! Gather Around, All Four Brothers!!” held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, by Warner Bros. Japan.
Wataru Takagi will lend his voice to Jagi, while Tsuguo Mogami is cast as Toki, and Taiten Kusunoki will take on the role of Raoh. These additions build upon the previously announced main cast, which includes Shunsuke Takeuchi as the protagonist Kenshiro, Daiki Yamashita as Bat, and M.A.O as Rin.
A Fresh Take on a Post-Apocalyptic Classic
The new anime adaptation is scheduled for release in 2026, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the legendary manga series. This CG-based production aims to be more faithful to Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s original manga, which captivated audiences from 1983 to 1988 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The original manga, a best-selling title, has inspired numerous anime adaptations, films, and video games over the decades.
The narrative plunges viewers into a post-apocalyptic 199X, where the world has been ravaged by nuclear fire, leaving behind a desolate wasteland. Amidst this devastation, humanity clings to survival, but their hopes are often crushed by brutal violence. The story centers on Kenshiro, a master of the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken, as he navigates this harsh world. With seven scars on his chest, Kenshiro uses his formidable skills to protect the weak and innocent from tyrannical thugs, all while pursuing his sworn enemy Shin, who abducted his fiancée Yuria.
Expanding the Voice Cast for Iconic Characters
The introduction of Wataru Takagi, Tsuguo Mogami, and Taiten Kusunoki as Jagi, Toki, and Raoh respectively brings significant talent to the series. These characters are central to Kenshiro’s journey, representing both familial ties and formidable adversaries within the Hokuto Shinken lineage. Their casting marks a crucial step in bringing the nuanced relationships and epic battles of Fist of the North Star to life for a new generation.
Anticipation for the 2026 Premiere
Fans have been eagerly awaiting more details since the new anime project was first announced in September 2023 as part of the manga’s 40th anniversary celebration. The reveal of a teaser trailer and character visuals for Bat and Rin earlier in July 2025 further heightened anticipation. With the main cast now largely in place, the 2026 premiere promises to deliver a visually updated yet faithful rendition of the iconic martial arts epic. Warner Bros. Japan’s continued commitment to celebrating the franchise’s legacy through this new adaptation has been a key highlight for fans worldwide.
