The highly anticipated new anime adaptation of Fist of the North Star, officially titled Fist of the North Star -FIST OF THE NORTH STAR-, has revealed its main voice cast following the premiere of its first trailer. The announcement was made during the Warner Bros. Japan industry panel at Anime Expo 2025 on July 5, JST. This marks the first full-length anime project for the franchise in 18 years, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the original manga. The new series is slated for a 2026 release.
Key Voice Actors Revealed
The core cast bringing the iconic characters to life in this new adaptation includes prominent voice talents. Shunsuke Takeuchi has been cast in the lead role as Kenshiro, the successor to the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken. Joining him are Daiki Yamashita as Bat and M.A.O as Rin, two of the series’ significant supporting characters.
A Modern Take on a Classic
First serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988, the Fist of the North Star manga by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and is renowned for its post-apocalyptic setting and intense martial arts action. The original manga has inspired numerous anime series, films, OVAs, video games, and spin-offs over the decades. This new anime aims to deliver the original manga’s impact utilizing modern visual technology and a fresh creative team. The production of the new anime was initially announced in September 2023 as part of the manga’s 40th anniversary celebration.
