Tokyo, Japan – OceanVeil, the new anime streaming platform by WWWave Corporation, announced on Thursday a strategic partnership with Japanese company Softgarage to bring nine classic anime titles from the 1990s and early 2000s to its service. This collaboration aims to unearth rare and fan-favorite series, with most titles already available for streaming.
A Dive into Retro Anime with OceanVeil
The partnership underscores OceanVeil’s commitment to offering a diverse library, particularly focusing on titles that may have been previously difficult to access outside of Japan or have fallen through licensing cracks. OceanVeil, which launched on March 11, 2025, positions itself as a community-centered platform for anime enthusiasts of all tastes, blending mainstream and niche content. The streaming service is operated by WWWave Corporation, a Tokyo-based company with a background in digital manga and comic publishing.
Softgarage’s Rich Anime Catalog
Softgarage (ソフトガレージ), established on July 26, 1989, is a Japanese company known for producing anime, games, character goods, music, and books. While primarily focusing on original video animations (OVAs), Softgarage has also contributed to anime television series and films. Their catalog includes a variety of works, from original stories to adaptations of manga and visual novels.
Featured Titles in the OceanVeil x Softgarage Partnership
The initial slate of nine anime titles from the 90s to early 2000s includes a mix of genres, catering to adult viewers and long-time fans seeking nostalgic favorites and hidden gems. All licensed titles are available now, with one exception slated for a later release.
Notable titles released through this partnership include:
- I’m Not Going Back Now (Boku wa Konomama Kaeranai): A boys’ love title exploring a love triangle and unrequited feelings.
- Boku no Sekuhara (My Sexual Harassment): A story centered on a corporate worker navigating the challenges of the business world.
- Little Bunny Cue!! (Usagi-chan de Cue!!): An action-comedy where a girl fuses with a rabbit, gaining bunny-powered fighting abilities.
- _summer and Hourglass of Summer: Highlights noted as never-before-licensed titles, making their streaming debut.
The collection aims to bring back titles that are “crafted for adults—especially longtime fans eager to revisit retro hits, ecchi moments, and the gems that have fallen through the cracks.”
OceanVeil’s Growing Library and Future Plans
This collaboration with Softgarage follows OceanVeil’s earlier announcement in May 2025 of partnerships with AnimEigo and MVD Entertainment to expand its non-hentai content, adding titles like Madox 01 Metal Skin Panic, AD Police Files, Bubblegum Crash, Riding Bean, and Time of Eve. The platform also previously partnered with Ascendent Animation for English-dubbed titles such as Everything for Demon King Evelogia and The Titan’s Bride.
OceanVeil emphasizes that all titles on its platform are completely and officially licensed, supporting creators. The service plans to continue adding more titles, including English-dubbed options, and focuses on showcasing titles that have yet to receive official worldwide releases. The platform offers both censored “broadcast” versions and uncensored “premium” versions for many series, with some content accessible for free, while full access requires a monthly subscription. This strategy aims to bridge the gap for fans who enjoy both mainstream and adult-oriented anime.
