The upcoming anime adaptation of mamakari’s Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love! (Debu to Love to Ayamachi to!) manga has revealed additional cast members and its opening theme song in its second promotional video. The series is set to premiere on October 6, 2025.
Expanding the Ensemble: New Voice Actors Join the Cast
The latest promotional video introduced four new additions to the anime’s voice cast, bringing more depth to Yumeko Koda’s world. Akari Kito will voice Saki Tamai, Tomokazu Sugita joins as Hiroki Maezono, Takuya Eguchi takes on the role of Yutaka Shigemori, and Eiji Takeuchi is cast as Masahiko Hosoi. These new cast members join the previously announced Aya Endo as the protagonist Yumeko Koda, and Yuma Uchida as Keisuke Yuki.
GANG PARADE to Perform Opening Theme “Happy Yummy Lucky Yummy”
Accompanying the new character reveals, the second promotional video also provided a preview of the anime’s vibrant opening theme song. Titled “Happy Yummy Lucky Yummy,” the song will be performed by the popular idol group GANG PARADE. The series’ ending theme, “Watashi de Yokatta!!!” (I’m Glad It’s Me!!!), will be performed by Yuma Uchida, who also voices the character Keisuke Yuki.
Production Details and Story Synopsis
The Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love! anime is being produced by Marvy Jack, with Kazuomi Koga (known for Rent-a-Girlfriend) directing the series. Aya Watatane is handling the series composition, while Atsuko Takahashi is responsible for character designs. The musical score is being composed by Satoshi Hono and Kaori Nakano.
The story follows Yumeko Koda, a young woman burdened by self-complexes. After a life-altering accident, Yumeko undergoes a dramatic transformation, waking up with a newfound, hyper-positive outlook, believing herself to be “SUPER cute!!” This sudden shift in attitude not only changes her own perception but also begins to influence those around her, addressing their worries and complexes in a comedic and energetic romantic tale.
