The highly anticipated “Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru” (Potions Will Save Me) light anime series has officially revealed an October 2 premiere date, accompanied by a new teaser that offers a glimpse into its fantasy world. The adaptation of Akira Iwafune’s popular light novel series is set to join Animation ID’s “Light Anime” lineup this fall.
Understanding the “Light Anime” Format
“Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru” is categorized as a “light anime,” a format known for its simpler animation style. This approach aims to reduce production time and costs, making it a distinctive entry in the animation landscape. Animation ID has previously produced other “light anime” titles, including Lockdown Zone: Level X, Maarui Kanojo to Zannen na Kareshi, Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, and With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess.
About the Story: “Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru” Plot
The series centers on Kaede, an ordinary high school girl whose life takes an extraordinary turn when she suddenly finds herself reincarnated into a fantastical new world. This mysterious realm is populated by diverse beings such as beastmen, elves, and dragons. Upon her arrival, Kaede discovers a peculiar book in her backpack that grants her the miraculous ability to create any potion she desires simply by chanting “creation.” Armed with this newfound power, Kaede must navigate the challenges of her new life, utilizing her potions for survival while harboring the hope of one day returning to her home in Japan.
The original light novel elaborates that Kaoru Nagase (the protagonist’s given name in the novel) died due to a dimensional energy rift. The God of her world saves her soul and mind, giving her a new life in a world under Goddess Celestine’s jurisdiction. Kaoru requests the power to create potions and other skills, as well as Celestine’s friendship, to avoid loneliness.
Cast and Staff Behind the Production
The main cast bringing these characters to life includes Kaede Hondo as the protagonist Kaede, and Takeo Otsuka as Azul (also referred to as Asuru, a dragon hunter).
The production team features Mikiko Furukawa, known for Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, as the director. Yūichi Imaizumi is the sound director, and bermei.inazawa is composing the music. Animation production is handled by Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio, with Studio KAIBA credited for animation assistance, and Kazuya Takahashi supervising the production.
Original Light Novel and Manga Origins

Shufunotomo began publishing the print edition of the novel with illustrations by Yoshi Tobe in 2015, with ten volumes released to date.
