About ‘Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru’
Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru originates from a series of isekai light novels written by Akira Iwafune and illustrated by Sunaho Tobe. The narrative follows Kaede, an ordinary high school girl who unexpectedly finds herself transported to a mysterious fantasy world teeming with beastmen, elves, and dragons. Her only means of survival and her hope of returning to Japan hinge on a newfound ability to create potions simply by chanting “creation” from a mysterious book she discovers in her backpack.
The original web novel was serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from April 2014 to September 2024, with print editions beginning in April 2015 and spanning ten volumes to date. A manga adaptation, also illustrated by Sunaho Tobe, launched in September 2023.
The “Light Anime” Format
The adaptation is designated as a “light anime,” a format characterized by a simpler animation style aimed at reducing production time and costs. This approach allows for more streamlined production while still delivering engaging content. Animation ID has previously utilized this format for other series, including Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, Maarui Kanojo to Zannen na Kareshi, and Lockdown Zone: Level X.
