The PuniRunes are back for a third season! “PuniRunes Puni 3,” the latest installment in the anime series based on Takara Tomy’s popular PuniRunes toy line, is set to premiere on July 5, 2025. Fans can look forward to catching the show every Saturday at 9:45 a.m. JST on TV Tokyo and five other affiliated channels. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming season.
What are PuniRunes?
PuniRunes are mysterious, squishy creatures that love to be coddled. The anime follows their daily lives alongside Yuka, a fourth-grade girl who adores soft and squishy things. The term “puni-puni” is a Japanese onomatopoeic word that describes something soft and squishy, perfectly capturing the essence of these adorable characters.
The PuniRunes concept originated from a toy line created by Takara Tomy. These digital pets feature a unique design that allows users to “pet” the soft creature inside by inserting their finger into a special hole. This tactile interaction sets PuniRunes apart from other digital pets, making them extra appealing to kids and adults alike.
