The highly anticipated main trailer for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 has been released, offering a glimpse into the upcoming storyline and featuring the anime’s new opening theme, “Umitsuki,” performed by ClariS. The popular romantic comedy series is set to begin broadcasting on July 4, 2025, with advance streaming available on DMM TV and d Anime Store in Japan starting July 1. Crunchyroll will also simulcast the season shortly after its Japanese premiere.
A New Sound for a New Season
The opening song, “Umitsuki,” marks a significant milestone for ClariS, as it is their first anime tie-up project since the group transitioned into a trio earlier this year with the addition of new members Ellie and Anna. The members of ClariS have expressed their honor in contributing to such a beloved anime and shared that they even tried their hand at writing lyrics for the first time, aiming to capture Kazuya’s feelings in the song. The title “Umitsuki” (meaning “Sea Moon”) is noted to be perfect for the summer broadcast period of the anime.
What to Expect in Season 4
Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 will delve into the “Hawaiians arc” of Reiji Miyajima’s original manga. The trailer itself provides visual hints of Kazuya’s poolside dilemmas as he navigates his relationships with his ex-girlfriend, his tentative current girlfriend, and his rental girlfriend.
The animation for the fourth season is once again handled by TMS Entertainment, with Kazuomi Koga returning to direct the series. Mitsutaka Hirota is in charge of series composition, Kanna Hirayama handles character designs, and Kenichi Maeyamada (Hyadain) composes the music. The main voice cast members are reprising their roles, including Shun Horie as Kazuya Kinoshita, Sora Amamiya as Chizuru Mizuhara, Aoi Yūki as Mami Nanami, Nao Tōyama as Ruka Sarashina, Rie Takahashi as Sumi Sakurasawa, and Yū Serizawa as Mini Yaemori.
In addition to ClariS’s opening theme, the ending theme song for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 will be “Boku no Vega” (My Vega), performed by the pop-rock group Regal Lily. The season is slated to run for two cours, with a break in between.
